Hyderabad

this wasn't our means of transportation yet
The day before, on our arrival in Hyderabad, the police wouldn't allow us to stay at any cheap inn, for fear something might happen to us. The town was even mentioned in a guide book as one to be avoided, though of course we encountered nothing but the usual friendly and helpful people. So, rather unwilling, we slept at some rundown but rather expensive hotel. There, for all the extra money, the cockroaches weren't any smaller, and when we asked for tea, instead of the expected mix of milk, tea and sugar all boiled together, we got it all separate, "British" type. This sure wasn't the place to have dinner, we could well imagine the kind of food served: An unwholesome spiceless mixture of neither Eastern nor Western parentage, straight from the fridge, where it's been waiting for some unsuspecting victim for at least a week. So we got into a rickshaw and asked the driver to bring us to a places with good local fare. Which was one of the usual, open to the street, grubby 5 tables affairs; we had an excellent dinner there.
