After
a long train ride, we arrived in Lahore, the cultural and academic centre
of the country. Lahore is the second largest city in Pakistan and the provincial
capital of the Punjab (punj - five, ab - river). Having
found a pleasant and affordable hotel in town, we went to see the sights,
something I had never even thought of doing when living in Lahore for a
year in 1971. Having spent half a day marvelling at the beautiful Mughal
architecture of the Fort and Badshahi Mosque and taking lots of photos,
when we were ready to go back to town we noticed to our dismay that there
wasn't any film in our camera! Tired as we were, we decided to forgo another
round of the Fort, but went back to the mosque to at least get some pics
there.
